RENDERED SPECULATION: IF This Is What The All-new Land Rover Defender Looks Like Would YOU Give It Two Thumbs UP or DOWN?
One all-new vehicle we've been eagerly awaiting is the all-new Land Rover Defender.

In recent months though, I think it's safe to say our balloon that was once flying high has slowly been getting deflated. You see, more and more is starting to become apparent.

The heavy cladding is coming off the prototypes. The interior has been leaked. There's a high chance that it will be powered by groggy four-cylinder motors.

All in, the picture is starting to get rather bleak.

The latest rendering seems to give us an idea of what the upcoming Defender *might* look like. Is the rendering perfect? No, these things rarely are. But, we've got to ask: IF the Defender looks like THIS would you give it two thumbs UP or DOWN?

Looks like a Kia Soul-based rendering. Weird but interesting.

It appears from what I have read that the Defender is being designed to be all things to all people whether a farmer, outback guide or Rodeo Drive shopper. This never works. Its the simple, reliable, utilitarian rugged nature of the original that was endearing to all and pulled in people of all types. This new one appears to try and reverse the process by pushing variations at all types. The former is a natural while the new vrsion contrived and calculating. Natural always wins.

Really sad, but you could see the direction with the new Land Rover Discovery. They really had the two brands to do it right, keep Range Rover branded cars the moderate off roaders with the more modern "Rodeo Drive" styling and plush interiors to take you to the Ritz while getting you safely back to your country chateau even when the dirt roads are flooded. Make the Land Rovers the Rugged more upright off roaders that can compete with Jeep but add a little bit of a British twist and style to it.

That would be exactly the wrong thing for it to be.

Look - its the "Land Rover Flex"!

Surely that can't be the design as it is too low to the ground with crummy approach and departure angles.

Yeap, Ford Flex or Honda Element... At least it’s better looking than the Discovery Sport. Wonder if it will replace it? Assuming it’s going to be in that price range?

It will be a bloated sad reinterpretation of the Defender/Series III vehicles. It could have been so much more. It was always going to be heavier, but I would have made a heritage design in a heartbeat. A modern Series III and had the debut with a white roof and sage green bodywork and painted steel wheels just like Marlin Perkins on Mutual of Ohama's Wild Kingdom!

It looks like its trying to be a more modern design of the Benz G.

Well since the "all new" Benz G isn't really all new...

No one is going to bring up the Dodge Nitro's shape huh? If it was a Genesis then that's what would had been said.

Horrible...looks like a jacked up Mini Cooper. If it prices out in the mid 50s nicely equipped they may get some takers...if they try to price it much higher than that its a no go.

But that would make it like all other LRRR products.
