Has The Lamborghini Urus Become The New G-Wagon For
For buyers of high-end luxury automobiles, there tends to be a few different types of categories. Essentially, segments of buyers that are looking for certain traits or characteristics in a vehicle.

One of them is the "show off" crowd.

These are the types that always has to have the latest and greatest of anything. They tend to gravitate towards statement pieces, like the Mercedes-Benz G-Class — a.k.a. G-Wagon. Essentially, you don't need to be a car geek to appreciate the G.

Its design and price tag does the talking for you.

That said, we've been keeping an eye on the buyers of the Lamborghini Urus. And, we've noticed something interesting. Much like the G, buyers of the Urus aren't interested necessarily in its performance ability. They like the statement it makes upon arrival at their favorite hotspot. It doesn't hurt that it happens to come from the Italian brand known for pushing boundaries.

So, we've got to ask: Has the Urus become the new G-Wagon for "the beautiful people?"

While the Urus certainly COULD become the new "IT" car for the rich and famous -= This car sells in such ridiculously low numbers as to render that designation hard to support. Fact is - this is an extreme exotic - and the appearance of virtually ANY extreme exotic is met with Attention.

WE have now entered a new era - where the "performance" figures of a true EV will be hard to beat in this category - but those performance figures have indeed gone well beyond what a person could do in a Public space. Doing 0-60 in 2 second race is not something that even the average retired Indy or F1 driver would consider doing regularly on a Pubic Road - as a result - Performance will be reduced to claimed numbers.

I think to be an IT car or SUV there has to be a certain level of attainability. The G-Wagon is not inexpensive, but the Urus, Cullinan, Bentayga etc are priced at another level or two up. The Urus is too expensive and too odd looking to be the next IT SUV for the monied crowd with kids.

I live in Beverly Hills so I see these regularly. But I see 50x more Rolls Royces.

This hideous creation is quickly becoming the "hot trophy wife/soccer mommy" official ride in the Toronto burbs. I am starting to see these quite regularly absent the gold teeth blingy rappers of other markets...

Nothing will replace the unique G Wagon, especialy an ugly rear sloping torpedo back sedan.
