Audi Electrics Not Off To A Good Start In The USA. First E-Tron's FEELING THE BURN?

Volkswagen AG luxury brand Audi is recalling its first all-electric vehicle due to the risk of a battery fire.

The company issued a voluntary recall of approximately 540 E-Tron SUV models sold in the U.S. because of a risk that moisture can seep into the battery cell through a wiring harness glitch, spokesman Mark Dahncke said. The company isn’t aware of any fires or injuries because of the flaw, which affects a total of 1,644 models, he said.

I was pretty sure this would outsell the Model X in the US - at least initially - but it's not even close.

One cannot make a real comparison based on the FIRST month of "Deliveries" since we do not know if there was enough Stock of vehicle or when during the month the cars were available for delivery.

Compare the sales of the Model X for the first month it was PROMISED - and you will note that NONE were actually sold until MONTHS later

I can point to the GM Pick ups - whose limited sales due to lack of availability of most models is being pointed out - ALTHOUGH - two of the major three body styles had extremely low availability.

I like the interior more on the Model X, not to mention the media system. The only thing I like more about the Audi are the rear view mirrors, and those are exclusive to Europe for now.

Neither will be able to touch the Mercedes EQC in terms of sales when it hits showrooms

Mercedes EQC will not do as well as you think...the price is too high. It is a sized like a compact crossover yet priced the same as the Etron and significantly more than the Tesla Model Y. VW/Audi/Porsche will do very well with their EV lineup, they have virtually unmatched resources to fund development and they will be able to use their two modular platforms across an entire range of models at 3 automakers giving them a cost advantage over everyone else.

Watch and learned my friend, it’s sized like the best selling compact luxury SUV in the segment, the GLC, an interior second to none, and build quality that makes the Tesla look like a hot wheels car.

Early list and signs indicate it will quickly leave MB struggling to keep up with demand initially

Been watching for over a decade and all MB has to show for is the B Class ED and the Smart ForTwo ED, both rather terrible, missed opportunities, both relied on Tesla to get going. I bet even the I-Pace will outsell the EQC.

U just made my argument for me, their only attempts were with vehicle types that don’t even sell in the states, now they took it seriously and created something for the masses, btw let’s not forget Benz also helped Tesla get going and still lends parts to this day on the Model S and X, next stop Tesla vans based on sprinters

I am not saying the EQC is a bad car by any means. It is one of the better EVs overall. It will not be the huge success you are proclaiming unless they price it well below the Audi. The GLC does lead the segment, but it would not if it were priced line with the X5 and Q7.

I don’t have to proclaim s***, the EQC is already sold out for 2019, and much of 2020 with proper inventory levels not returning until 2021 LOL...again watch or read and learn

Without production numbers "Selling out" is meaningless. The Porsche Taycan is also sold out for at least the first year.

I saw the Model Y in person today and it looks much better than the photos do it justice. I think it looks dramatically better than the Model X and surprisingly a little better than the 3. Even though it is larger, it is also more aerodynamic than the 3 (revealed today during the investor event). Based on how the 3 is doing right now and the fact that the market for midsized SUVs is 250% larger than sedans, the Y is absolutely going to crush competition both upmarket and downmarket.

If I were a large Tesla investor I would demand to know why the Model 3 was released before the Model Y. That was a terrible decision considering SUVs were dominating the market when model 3 development started.

I was talking to other investors about that topic yesterday... that is a really great question. The Y should have been released first.
