Pricing Announced for the highly anticipated next generation 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS

The all-new GLS has raised the bar yet again as the largest and most luxurious SUV in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. The GLS is the S-Class among SUVs, combining sophisticated technology and impressive levels of standard equipment with comfort for up to 7 passengers, agile dynamics and extensive safety systems. For the first time, the new generation GLS is available with a 6-seat option configuration that includes Captain's Chairs. Customers will now have the choice of either a three-seat rear bench seat or two individual seats with armrests in the second row. With larger dimensions and more comfort than ever before, the Mercedes-Benz GLS offers three fully electrically adjustable seat rows, giving all passengers a generous amount of space and outstanding seating comfort. Starting from $75,200*, the new GLS 450 4MATIC boasts additional standard equipment, a new 3.0L Inline-6 Turbo engine with EQ Boost and the latest technological innovations from Mercedes-Benz.

The new GLS benefits from a progressive interior design that includes a new- generation steering wheel with Touch Control Buttons, two grab handles on the center console, a widescreen dual display with a 12.3" Digital Instrument Cluster and 12.3" multimedia display with touchscreen, a new-generation Touchpad in the center console, and new 64-Color Ambient Lighting. Popular options on the previous-generation GLS, such as the Premium Package (including Blind Spot Assist, Smartphone Integration, Navigation, SIRIUS XM Satellite Radio, Multi-color ambient lighting and KEYLESS-GO), the Lighting Package (Active LED Headlamps and Adaptive High beam Assist) and the Parking Assist Package (Active Parking Assist and Surround View Camera), are now all standard.

With the new generation, customers also have newly available options to personalize the interior with available Executive Rear Seat Packages, open-pore trims and up to 5-zones of climate control.

This sophisticated SUV offers the latest technology from Mercedes-Benz with the revolutionary infotainment system called Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX). This game-changing system offers intelligent Voice Control and Natural Language Understanding, augmented video for navigation and introduces the new MBUX Interior Assistant that supports operating intentions by recognizing hand and arm movements. The ENERGIZING Comfort function seamlessly links the various comfort systems in the vehicle together, systematically using the functions of the climate control system (including fragrancing) and the seats (heating, ventilation, massage), as well as lighting and musical atmospheres to enable a specific wellness set-up tailored to the mood and need of the driver. The GLS features the latest generation of Mercedes-Benz driver assistance systems lending support to the driver in various situations. The Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 4MATIC features a new in-line six-cylinder engine, intelligently electrified with 48-volt technology and an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). The ISG is responsible for hybrid functions such as EQ Boost and energy recuperation, allowing for fuel savings that were previously only possible with high- voltage hybrid technology. This sophisticated yet powerful engine produces 362 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, with a further 184 lb-ft of torque and 21 hp available via EQ Boost over short periods.

I’ll take the conservative approach of the GLS over the water buffalo snout inspired grille and bloated X5 look any day. The GLS will age gracefully while the X7 will look outdated/tacky in 3 yrs

I agree C4L. I would assume they will add the AMG grille like they do with the GLE and that will really look good. The X7 isn’t bad but the front end is the only appealing part of the design. The rest of the car just looks boxy and already-aged, not unlike the theme of the Lexus LX and GX.

The X7 is the hot-to-trot product in the segment. BMW dealers unload them from the truck, drive them around back for a quick detail, and off the lot they go sold.

Meanwhile the Mercedes looks 10-15 years old. It just isn't special.

The Kia Telluride looks more expensive than the new GLS.

These comments. The GLS looks dated? Compared to what? The X7, outside of the front end, carries practically the SAME EXACT styling theme that the X5 has had since inception. Take away the grille and headlights and the styling is bland and generic AF. The Telluride is basically a clone of the GMC Envoy with an ass-ugly grille and trying too-hard taillights.

I think the new GLS suffers from the same "fear of change" design that the new Ford Explorer does. If it doesn't look new or fresh, it's a problem no matter how good the vehicle is. When price is less of an issue for the buyer, styling and other seemingly less important features become grounds for differentiation and therefore take precedent.

I’m with Matt, the X7 is awesome, the previous GLS looked like a Mercedes, this look dumpy... the GLK looked like a Mercedes the GLC a Hyundai.., never liked the ML/GLE as nice as it is it looks like a chickmobile...

Price looks ok...Basically same price as the X7, lots of features now standard over the 2019 model. It will do well...the 3 pointed star still more cachet than BMW which will appeal to the soccer mom crowd.

The Mercedes-Benz GLS pricing is in line with the BMW X7. The X7 starts at $73,900 and the GLS at $75,200.

All this talk about how the BMW X7 will crush the GLS in sales is completely made up. As of now, the X7 has no prior sales data to go by. Yes, it's off to a hot start but part of that is due to the fact that Mercedes's new GLS hasn't been available for purchase yet. That will soon change.

Let's see how the X7 does when the new GLS hits showrooms. Mercedes has a strong following in this segment and the GLS is a competent offering. Some may call it bland exterior design, but overall the package of large space, cutting edge technology, an SUV and the Mercedes-Benz star on the front grille has proven to be successful.
