GM Considers Reviving Hummer As An EV Brand
A zero-emission Hummer sounds as paradoxical as non-alcoholic whiskey, but General Motors is mulling over the idea of building an electric vehicle that would bring the defunct gas-guzzling brand back to life.

For now, it’s just an idea GM is considering as it plans which vehicles will be included in a fleet of electrified SUVs and trucks, say people familiar with the matter. The Hummer name has surfaced as way to tap growing demand for rugged SUVs with off-road capabilities, while avoiding the gasoline-burning image that made the brand something of a pariah a decade ago, said the people, who asked not to be named because the conversations are private.

An EV Hummer will be huge. And an instant consideration for my next purchase. One thing Tesla does not have on their public radar is a Wrangler competitor. The market is ripe for an EV Wrangler type vehicle.

GM execs must be doing crack cocaine on a daily basis and conferring with street pimps for marketing ideas.

GM needs fewer brands, not more. Hummer was not a huge success when it was up and running.
Help me understand how bringing back a long dead brand known for being overweight gas guzzlers as an EV make any marketing sense.

Disagree. GM needs to restructure their brands.

Ditch: GMC and Buick

Fortify Cadillac. Turn Corvette into a BRAND aimed at Porsche. Resurrect Hummer as a Jeep/Land Rover brand.

Sell Cadillac/Corvette/Hummer in GM premium dealerships.

Actually, I like this idea. I have said that GMC needs to go and Corvette needs to be its own sub-brand. Buick is being kept alive for China so keep it there. Your Hummer idea is good if GM can execute it.

A smarter lighter Hummer lineup that uses hybrid engine technology could find a market. Nothing wrong with that. Chasing a BEV version would be foolish.

Wrong Time for a New Brand.

Tesla is a new brand and it seems to be doing OK to hear tell. So I guess that proves you wrong Alzheimers Tommy.

Only CEO Mary Barra would resurrect a failed vehicle for a second life.
Maybe she will call the truck the HUMMER ZOMBIE.

Any electric vehicle is better than ICE dinosaurs.

"Dinosaurs" is an ironic metaphor, since both EVs and dinosaurs die off in cold weather.

I like the idea. But, someone educate me. How much batter power would be consumed with serious off-roading? Today, off-roaders bring extra gas cans as backup. What would be an EV's backup. Of course, there would probably be very few that would truly take it off road.

meant "battery power"
