Are You As Tired Of The Massive Grill Trend As We Are? Lexus GX460 Face Gets Uglier For 2020
The number of updates to the 2020 Lexus GX 460 can be counted on your fingers, but perhaps the most obvious one is the spindle grille. Or Predator-face, depending on your choice of science fiction. It’s less broken up by lines now, so it carries a similar effect to that of the Lexus minivan.

If you’ll kindly remember the 2019 version, that grille was broken up by a bunch of silver lines and then one larger, gray plastic line. It looked kind of a strangely shaped HVAC vent:

Get a 4runner and save the difference. If you want a nice driving LEXUS then get the RX.

An optioned-up 4runner is within 'discount range' of a GX460.

The steep discount on the GX is necessary to get people to look past how terrible its vehicle dynamics are. The basic design goes all the way back to the 90's J90 Prado that was mildly updated mechanically and reskinned for 2002 and that model is largely what the current vehicle is. It's narrow, tall, and tipsy.

I hated the Big Grill when Audi first did it - although it predates even them

However - when Cadillac had a huge grill - it was a huge car.

So an uglier grille to keep the horribly outdated yestertruck (sic) alive! This is the Crown Vic of the SUV world.

Lexless front grill now look like a cow catcher of a 19th century R.R. locomotive. HIDEOOUS.

OH come on this trend still has a ways to go. I want to see a vehicle with the grill at least twice as wide and tall as the vehicle behind it, then i will be satisfied.

If you compare it to the Land Cruiser/LX570, it’s a deal of the century. But if you compare it to a QX80 or Armada/Patrol, not so much.

Just get an ARB and the grill will only look half as bad.

Good on Lexus coupes, not as good on sedans, horrible on SUVs, this being the worst example.
