Misleading? IIHS Study Reveals That Consumers Think Tesla's Autopilot Is Really An Autopilot

Many consumers misunderstand how to use Tesla's Autopilot driver-assist technology, according to a survey released Thursday by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The survey of more than 2,000 consumers found drivers also were confused by other driver-assist systems such as Nissan's ProPilot Assist, Cadillac's Super Cruise, advertised as "hands-free driving," and BMW's Driving Assistant Plus.

Wow! People actually think something is what its name implies it is. Who would have thunk? (Just another example of Musk hoodwinking the general public with overstatement, under delivery.)

Autopilot can't murder someone that is supposed to be paying attention, exactly like the warning indicates every single time you enable the feature and do any sort of software update.

This is just people believing Tesla's criminal misrepresentation of their under-engineered and buggy technology.

If AP was terrible, people wouldn't use it. Last September, it was not very good on the Model 3 and would bounce back and forth between he lines. I was using it moderately almost like an experiment. In the last version it drives better on the freeway than most people, it feels weird being on the freeway and not using AP. Everyone I know with AP uses it most of the time now. Tesla also has moved beyond freeway driving and are slowly releasing features for full-self driving including stoplight/stopsign detection and better curb detection for advanced summon.

The overall solution is far better than you guys think it is.
