Electric MINI To Debut July 9th - Is THIS The Shot In The Arm The Brand Needs?
Just less than three weeks left to the unveiling of the all-new all-electric MINI, as the world premiere was scheduled for July 9, 2019.

The British brand (part of the BMW Group) wrote:

"Opening a new chapter in our history, the first all-electric MINI combines MINI's inventive spirit, creative use of space and iconic design. Experience a new urban confidence and peace of mind knowing you’re not only helping make our roads quieter, and the air we breathe cleaner – but your petrol station days are over, too. Feel enriched knowing you’re making a difference – and enabling a brighter urban life."

No. Like other EVs, it will be stupidly expensive for what it is and Minis are already stupidly expensive for what they are.

NO, like all the mainstream automotive companies, they have VASTLY overestimated the "REAL" demand for pure EV automobiles. Range anxiety and practicality have yet to be fully addressed, in addition to public realization that a EV production is worse for the environment then a diesel ICE is going to weigh down the EV demand, once solid state batteries are widely available and priced in a way that regular people can afford cars with them, then EV may actually have the kind of demand everyone is hoping for but wishing is not a business plan. Plus BMW/MINI will want stupid money for a really average offering with lithium ion batteries... so this is a waste of money to invest in and will likely be exactly like the I3, DOA

The MINI offers nothing for the average American Car buyer. There is no nostalgia for the brand for which they would pay the added price here in the USA. And the Mini - is simply not space efficient enough for the American driver. THIS is a uniquely EUropean (ANd English) Vehicle that does not belong on the market here.
IF - by adding a large Battery Pack - they have to reduce the avaiable size of these cars even more - maybe they would be better placed selling against the TONKA brand.THey will not last long and I still do not understand WHY they are so unreliable - although being from BMW - I can see why they cost so much to fix.

Not really. Minis have a high warranty incident rate.

It could have been if it were in the Superleggera. They missed the boat on that one...

I drove an i3 and found it to be quite fun to drive, put that powertrain into a MINI, and this is sure to be a great driving EV
