The Audi TT May Only Be Dead In Name Only
The Audi TT isn't dead yet. Contrary to previous plans to retire the name at the end of the current generation, company CEO Bram Schot now indicates that the moniker is sticking around, according to AutoBlog.nl. The different path happened because Schot was tired of people "whining" about a TT successor.

At Audi's annual meeting, Schot announced that the company intended to replace the TT with a new electric sports car. Without ever saying it specifically, he seemed to indicate that the upcoming model wouldn't carry the TT name. Schot also suggested that the company wanted the EV to have similar pricing as the outgoing TT, which hints at a base cost of around $45,000.

TT is what a tomcat does to mark a wall.

I was at an Audi dealer today. I looked at the TT. I had one about 10 years ago and loved it. The new generation on the dealers floor was surprising chiseled and physically large comparative my older model. It is still powered by the lovely VW 4 banger that delivered power very smoothly and productively. The Audi interior is of course, outstanding.

This is a vehicle that can push $80K. It simply is a terrible sports car for that price. The base TT should have been a $35K sports car that attracted people to the brand. In short, it should have been what it is: a fancy GTI. The TTRS should have topped at $50K. As it is, the TT is way too expensive to have an even remotely possible business case. The TT is a missed opportunity of an image builder car. The first TT was definitely an image builder, but then the TT went Camry dull and dismissible.
