Lotus Performance SUV Breaks Cover In Test Form - Is It What You Were Hoping For?

We’ve known to expect a Lotus-badged SUV for years now, especially after possible patent drawings were leaked back in 2017. Then, last year we had the company’s CEO all but confirm the vehicle, followed by multiple reports regarding its underpinnings.

Now, we have our first ever look at a prototype, albeit in test mule form, as it is wearing an old Lynk & Co 01 body in an attempt to hide its large wheels and low, aggressive stance.

If it handles like a Lotus should the looks are secondary. It will be interesting when it breaks cover and tested against the Macan and others in its class. Until then I reserve judgement.

I can't tell from the photos if it is Macan or Cayenne sized or somewhere in the middle. Like the upcoming Aston DBX it should be somewhat stylish, light and perform quite well. I think Lotus wants this to be the lightest SUV in the class. That should not be too hard. If it is using a XC90 or XC60 platform it should be safe too.

Too little too late. They will be a sub niche of a niche of a niche...will be a tough sell anywhere except perhaps the UK.

So the Lotus will be a LincolnCo?

Hard to judge

On the contrary. Geely owns them. Geely uses the same platform for its LincolnCo and Volvo divisions, thus a Lotus crossover will be that platform with a Lotus badge.
