Now while a good chunk of news coverage is emerging today about the unbelievable, one-off 2013 Shelby GT500 Cobra created in a tribute to Carroll Shelby and the legacy left behind, I think what 001 captured at Quail is even...better.
While he snapped some cars from the infamous Superperformance, it doesn't matter that it's not the real deal -- these cars, too, have the spirit and soul that Shelby pursued. The only reason I know is because the man himself endorsed Superperformance's products as being as close to the real thing as possible. Pretty cool, really.
But what 001 captured was a parade -- with police escort -- of originals making their way around Quail. And what a spectacular grouping.
I can only imagine the sound.
Personally, I can't take my eyes off of the number 59 car.
