Hyundai Proves It Is Seriously Targeting High End Buyers By Building A Bullet Proof EQUUS Model

Hyundai Motor is making a bulletproof car with its large sedan Equus for the first time in Korea, the Korea Economic Daily reported on Sunday.

According to the report, Hyundai embarked on the project for protocol purposes for key government figures including President Lee Myung-bak. The project reportedly started after an informal request from the government.

1. North Koreans (for hating the U.S.-loving president)
2. South Korean extreme leftists (for not liking the conservative president who allowed mad-cow-diseased U.S. beef to be imported into South Korea)
3. Islamic militants and terrorists (for sending troops to Iraq and Afghanistan and being a close ally to the U.S.)

A good looking rendering. However is this an oxymoron at it's best (worst)? If you are driving a Hyundai, nobody will shoot at you. Chuckle a little yes, but no gun play. Get real people. Kaner, that was funny! And Lexus has no designers, Toyota does.I get your point though.

Cheers!

Actually, the South Korean President currently rides the S600 Guard, 7 Series Security, Lincoln (I forget what model it is), and a convertible Equus Limousine (a non-bullet proof car tuned by Proto Motors, now acquired by Oullim Motors).
Moreover, it is a norm in Korea that Korean statesmen and civil servants do not ride foreign cars. Politicians who ride imported cars receive bad reputation from the Korean citizens for not buying Korean (those who ride foreign cars actually get featured on newspapers). If you don't believe me, visit the parking lot of the Korean National Assembly or any other government buildings; you'll see the parking lot almost completely filled with large black Korean sedans. The Korean President currently rides foreign car because there is no Korean-made car that is bullet proof (obviously he needs to be protected as the leading representative of the country). Thus, the Korean Government has unofficially asked Hyundai Motor Company to develop and produce the nation's first bullet proof car.

I will take that back:
If you visit the parking lot of Korean government buildings, you will NOT see the parking lot almost completely filled with large black Korean sedans, as there are many civil servants who cannot afford large Korean sedans. There will be white Elantras and silver Sonatas, etc in the parking lot too. However, you'll notice that there are many large black Korean sedans (such as the Equus, Genesis, Azera, Amanti, and Chairman) parked in the parking section for the statesmen of high position.

LOL... what is so funny about this article is that Hyundai PROVES.... well according to what I think I believe that Hyundai has not proved much besides a nice picture... lol... of course its my opinion.. but if it to really be proven, then there would be one down at the lot for me to drive it and experience it and compare it to my S-class

Firstly, the Korean President (the head of the Korean Government) needs to have a Hyundai bullet-proof car because he needs to be protected, while accepting good reputation from the Korean public for using their tax money on a Korean product. You are asking the same thing as, "Why would President Obama need to have an American-built Cadillac bulletproof car?"
Secondly and honestly, I have never heard of BAE systems helped to develop the Presidential motorcade (I am not saying you are wrong, since I have no evidence to defend against it. I just have never heard about it).
Thirdly, I also don't know if most of the bullet-proof cars out there aren't made by the original manufacturer, but if your statement is true, then would you say the Genesis Coupe is an Italian car because it has Brembo brakes or even a German car because it has ZF transmission? Would you also say the iPhone is a Korean product because it has a Samsung chip built in? Probably not.
Fourthly, who the hell is Mr. Moon?

Equus is the first part of the horse family's scientific name...more specifically, a genus of animals including horses, steeds, and donkeys

who names a car after horses?? i bet most of the people who buy this car dont even know what Equus means!
