Read the article. They were talking about design risks, not engineering. And if you don't think a grille can be bold, tell it to all the people who griped about Acura's beak and Audi's gaping mouth. Given all the regulations and form-follows-function design ethos, it's one of a handful of areas that can make a sedan different.

I'm not a Lexus fan, in fact, I dislike them BUT 009's gleeful attitude towards anything seemingly/genuinely negative for Toyota/Lexus is childish at best.

im going to assume you were doing something wrong, Im no lexus fan in the slightest but if nothing else they can build a car that lasts, and an Lx with 49,000 miles and an engine knock sounds like someone cheap skated on the upkeep and maintenance........

Lexus USA has issued this statement which touches on what exactly caused the issue:

Lexus has discovered faulty valve springs in some V8 and V6 engines in certain Lexus models sold in the U.S. Due to slight variations during the manufacturing process, some foreign material may have contaminated the valve springs resulting in potential breakage.

In such a situation, there is a remote possibility that abnormal engine noise or idling may occur. In extremely rare instances, the engine may stop while the vehicle is in operation.

"Lexus" and "Bold Risks" don't belong together.

Lexus has always played it safe with everything it did. They've always waited to make sure a product will sell. How long did it take them to offer an IS Convertible? Exactly.

Where's the GS Coupe? Where is a Z4/SLK fighter? Why are there no IS or GS wagons? Where are the diesels? Why don't they offer more engine choices across their lineup? More trim levels? The list is endless.

They do diesel in the IS range ( though that engine is somewhat dated by miles compared with the competition)

i beleive I read soemwhere that the new GS will also have a new diesel engine in addition to a Hybrid..

Some people here seem to think that once a grill has a large opening, then they all look exactly alike. Nothing and I mean nothing is as expertly executed as the Lexus grill.

Well....they need to do SOMETHING. Even if it's just flipping over an Audi grill and adding the LED lights (like everyone else) it's SOMETHING. The used soapbar look is so tired and has no character and they all seem to have a driving style to match (LFA exception) So what if they have to copy a German brand to breath some life back into their designs. LOL. Nothing they haven't done before.
