Maybach doesn't have brand recognition? In the 1920s and 1930s Maybach was competing against Mercedes-Benz, Rolls Royce and Bentley along with other high-end European luxury brands like Bugatti, Delahaye, Hispano-Suiza etc.

Maybach established themselves as one of the LEADING luxury brands of the day producing cars that were far more advanced technologically than Bentley or Rolls Royce. I'd say they definitely have a worthy brand name and history which sadly came to an end after World War II.

COME ON GUYS!! We all know TODAY Cars share many electronic compoments and mechanical parts!!
Anyone drives a RR Ghost , he is driving a Bmw 7 period !!

AUDI A8 > BENTLEY Mulsanne
VW PHAETON > BENTLEY Continental Flying Spur
BMW 7 > ROLLS ROYCE Ghost and Phantom
S-Class > Maybach

The only thing Daimler Benz need to do , get off Maybach to s-class design!!! They need to offer something VERY different and I think it's not a bad Idea for parterner ship with AM.
But if you really think RR OR BENTLEY ARE BETTER THAN MAYBACH!! THAT IS YOUR CHOICE MY FRIENDS.

Well said. Aston needs a lot of help. The chassis they use is eight years old and they need access to some parts and a couple of chassis. The DBS Volante is gorgeous but the old chassis and 2 Ford Duratec engines joined together is a bit much!

BSBB,

I don't thing RR or Bentley are better brands than Maybach!!

Maybach is a German luxury car manufacturer. It was founded in 1909 by Wilhelm Maybach and his son .Today, the ultra-luxury car brand is owned by Daimler AG
Rolls-Royce Limited, the original company founded in 1906, and split into Rolls-Royce plc and Rolls-Royce Motors in 1973
So both cars have an History!!

Both are the top luxury cars you can get. The Rolls has more flash and presence, while the maybach is more of understated authority and luxury for those who don't feel that they need to "show off" with bling. The phantom is something a new york banker or a mogul would arrive in, the maybach on the other hand seems like something the ultra wealthy might have at a new england estate, ready for a trip to a cocktail party.
Rolls royce is certainly at the top, but maybach is the pinnacle. Both have their place, but my vote goes for Maybach because it is more spacious. It is more powerful and performs better than a Rolls. It is literally a palace on wheels, and is the last word in luxury. I feel the Rolls is a bit small, and doesn't have nearly as many luxury options. I'm not saying that the Maybach is perfect, but both cars have a lot of room for improvement. I'd like to see a satellite communications system, more interior space, two rear facing seats in the back, full reclining as in a bed, a larger HD television with a built in media center with global high speed internet access, Both cars can improve a lot.

You fail to realize one important thing: there is no historical link between the Maybachs of 1909 and those of today; The company did not exist as an actual entity for 57 years (between 1945 and 2002).

The REASON people talk about history is because of the accumulated knowledge acquired over time and a an expectation of what a brand is supposed to be based on previous work. The only things shared by a Mercedes Maybach and a real Maybach are a name and a symbol.

You can choice RR or Bentley ! That's you to decide, but any way, any time and anywhere I'll choose Maybach!!! I'm sure it is THE BEST car ever made, and I am always satisfied with the best!!!!

I totally agree with you blazinboy!

It's all about the design!! What they need to focus on is building cars that look nothing like Mercedes-Benz. S-CLASS !! and that ouside like inside, they need is a whole new design. I know it will be hard work considering Maybach is such an old company and Mercedes has to think from the ground up.
The issue is they had to do more work in building Maybach's reputation compared with BMW which got RR a company who reputation was already world known.
All BMW needs to do JUST build the car but Benz needed to build the car and recreate a brand that was dead after second world war.
