While reviewing the 335i, The Truth About Cars Jay Shoemaker takes the 3-series Coupe to task for its underwhelming interior quality.

"The well-tailored leather, for example, is about as sensually satisfying as a business class airline seat. There’s also an unwelcome lack of attention to detail. The window controls are set too far forward on the doors and, unforgivably, there’s a large blank plastic spacer covering the absence of the switches for the rear (obviously borrowed from the sedan)."

Why does BMW continue to fail with its interiors, even when they've finally gotten the exterior right with the 3-series coupe?
