Yes, you read that headline correctly. According to the first reports from a non-biased publication, the news is quite impressive about the all-new BMW 7-Series. In what I believe is an incredibly thorough first impression, Autocar does a deep dive on the all-new 7.
This car is a big deal and has its work cut out for itself; however, if there's one brand that's proven it can do the unthinkable, it's BMW.
Sure, the all-new 7-Series may have NOT impressed when it was fully exposed months ago, but it seems that there's more to it than simply looks. In this class, that matters. While we're just understanding its lightweight construction, it sounds like this generation 7 will be FAR more sporting AND comfortable than the previous generation. Considering all the work BMW AG has put into Rolls-Royce, I would hope some of that would translate into the 7'er. It sounds like that's the case as Autocar really emphasizes how much more comfortably it rides.
The bimmer has always been a decent handler so that's to be expected. But if it can ride softly AND do the sporting thing we've got something special here.

Even at this early stage, it is clear the new 7 Series offers a broader set of dynamic abilities than before. But we’re yet to see the car in all its production glory, and won’t for another couple of months yet.
However, the signs so far are very encouraging. Technologically, it is a big step forward, introducing features such as carbonfibre construction and a gesture control operating system to the luxury ranks for the first time. The more important news, however, is that the handling is now even more eager while the comfort levels have been enhanced, too...
