When Honda said last Thursday that it will be putting the FCX concept into limited production in the middle 2008, it also said a mass-market hybrid is on its way to the US within two years. The gasoline-hybrid model will also be available in the UK.
According to Ken Keir, managing director of Honda UK and senior vice president of Honda Motor Europe, the mass-market hybrid will look “like the Remix sporty small car concept shown at the Los Angeles auto show in November – although the design has already moved on a lot since then.”
Honda will produce 200,000 units a year of the hybrid-only model, with pricing expected to be under the Honda Civic hybrid around €20,000. The car is expected to launch in the middle of 2009.
