Over the past 24 months we've seen some serious shifts in the automobile industry.
There's been a major macroeconomic event and the automakers are not selling as much product as they used to. In addition, consumers have shifted their purchases for better value and increased efficiency. Notice the relationship between rising gas prices and demand for fuel efficient cars?
On top of all this there has been a desire more fashionable cars. Sleek and sexy is in while goofy and bulbous is out.
Take, for example, the Hyundai Sonata, which is the brand''s cash cow. It has been so successful merely because it incorporates all three of these elements: value, style and fuel efficiency.
Now there's this concept from Mazda that's said to be a preview of the Mazda6. That got me thinking:
If ALL cars look as good as this concept, would buyers stray from the upper echelon of products?
You have to keep in mind, we're in the "new" economy.
