The New York Times reports:
For those off-road enthusiasts who’ve missed the theme park atmosphere of Camp Jeep at the New York auto show, the news is good: the portable mountains, the fake fallen logs and the steep wedges will return to the Jacob Javits Center for this year’s show.
Chrysler introduced Camp Jeep at the New York show in 2004 as a marketing tool and to show off Jeeps on terrain more rugged than what even Midtown potholes had to offer. It has since toured at shows in other cities, including San Diego, Cleveland and Chicago.
But in 2008, Chrysler went “green” for the auto show and left Camp Jeep out of its program. The following year, Camp Jeep was put on hold again as Chrysler struggled through a financial crisis and bankruptcy protection. But the absence was only temporary.
