2011 BMW X5 LCI FULL Press Release
For 2011, the X5 sees some substantial changes by way of new motors, packaging and new lighting. Now the X5 will be powered by a twin-turbo V8 producing 400-horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. Sound familiar? That is because it is derived from the X6 xDrive50i. Zero to 60 will come in a quick 5.3 seconds. Pricing for the xDrive50i will begin at $59,275*.
Additionally, if you want to be more frugal, the N55, single turbo powerplant with 300-horsepower will be named the xDrive35i. Zero to 60 will come in 6.4 seconds, the same as the outgoing xDrive48i. Pricing will begin at $46,675* but there will be two packages offered on the xDrive35i. Premium and Sport, which will both start at $52,475* and $54,975*, respectively.
Mated to these motors will be a new eight-speed automatic transmission featuring Steptronic.
BMW says that "...the new transmission weighs no more than its 6-speed predecessor, yet offers closer ratios in the lower gears for improved acceleration and two additional “tall” gears for relaxed, efficient cruising..."
