Today’s tale of irony comes from the UK, where Chief Constable Meredydd Hughes was caught doing 90mph in a 60mph zone back in May. Unfortunately for him, Hughes is both the chief constable of South Yorkshire Police and the head of roads policing for the Association of Chief Police Officers, making him the top highest ranked traffic cop in the country.
He’s now facing a fine of £1000 and suspension of his license, though he will be able to appeal both, according to Reuters. A spokesperson for the police said Hughes would be “handing over his responsibility for road policing,” however it’s claimed the decision was made before he was caught.
