Panamera: the budget edition
For all you eco- and wallet-conscious potential Panamera customers, Porsche has announced a green, budget, entry-level edition of its four-door super-thingy.

Set to arrive in June, it'll be called the Panamera Gran Turismo and will be powered by a 3.6-litre V6 developing an almost-green 296bhp and 296lb ft of torque.

Is it interesting that Porsche has decided to equip the Panamera with a V6 - a la Cayenne - instead of a 911-derived flat-six? We're not sure. Either way, although the Panamera's new engine shares its displacement with the smallest unit in the Cayenne line-up, Porsche is describing the direct-injection V6 as 'all new'.

It'll come with Porsche's 'PDK' double-clutch gearbox and stop-start technology as standard, and return 30.4mpg and a respectable 221g/km of CO2 in rear-wheel drive guise. Both figures drop slightly for the four-wheel drive variant. No, not drop, because the CO2 figure rises. Worsen. Disimprove. Something like that.

The Panamera Gran Turismo will start at £61,461 when it goes on sale this summer. Or, er, £80,000 less than its four-door supercar sort-of-rival, the Aston Rapide. Interesting
