In recent years there have been on/off rumors about Jaguar. Word on the street has suggested that Jaguar wanted to bring a sport-utility vehicle into its product lineup for a while.

This seems to be somewhat nonsensical, at least to me. Now with Tata at the helm — though from what we understand they're not puppeteering anything at JLR — and Jaguar Land Rover being sister companies, one would think that Jaguar wouldn't want to cannibalize Land Rover sales.

But word on the street suggests otherwise and that the British marque is moving full steam ahead with plans for its very first SUV. This means it will join the likes of Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Lexus, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche in the luxury SUV world.

According to Auto Express the "Q-Type" or "XQ" will go up against the likes of the Audi Q5 and BMW X3, which will be yet another addition to that very hot luxury SUV space.

Here's the twist though. It will NOT use it's sister company's underpinnings — the Range Rover Evoque. The Jaguar SUV is said to be based off of its all-new 3-Series rival. So, expect this cat to be a city dweller and not a bobcat.
