If you've been tuning into AutoSpies the past couple of weeks it's been patently obvious that we're eagerly awaiting the 2012 Range Rover Evoque. Since I saw it in the flesh at the 2011 New York Auto Show, I have been sort of geeking out over the car.
But it was when I saw it parked on a local street that I truly got what this car was all about.
However, the team at Porsche isn't going to take this sitting down. It's going to put up a fight with the long-awaited Cajun sport-utility vehicle. Although it's too early to figure out where it will slot in, from a space perspective, according to reports it will largely be based on the Audi Q5. Don't let that get you down though, because aside from tweaked internals, the Cajun is expected to be largely bespoke.
Question is, though: If Porsche is to build this sleek, 911-inspired Cajun, will the Range Rover Evoque's buzz be stolen OR is enough room for the both of them to flourish?
These leaked in-house computer renderings are the first definite proof that Porsche is intending to build a direct rival for the sporting three-door Range Rover Evoque.
The Evoque-chasing Cajun is expected to be launched in two years’ time and will be based on the Audi Q5 SUV. As well as a five-door Cajun, Autocar understands that Porsche has already started work on a three-door coupé version.
