Drag racing is the great equalizer. That's because you never quite know what's going to happen. There's several variables at play here:
1) You don't exactly know if cars are stock or modified. Obviously, this is hugely impactful in the end result;
2) Someone may screw up the launch;
3) Tires are hugely dependent on performance — drag radials? Stock? Which it is ultimately matters; and,
4) Bracket racing? Yes, this can be problematic in determining true performance.
In the case of this all-new M3 versus the ATS-V sedan, all of these factors are in play. Whether or not they contribute to the win or loss doesn't really matter though. At the end of the day there's a clear winner and loser.
Rather than speculate just take a look at the video. According to chatter, both vehicles were modified; however, the Caddy was on stock tires whereas the BMW as on drag radials. See the end result, below!
