As you'd expect, everyone has a different opinion of their dream car. Some want a galactic-sized sport-utility vehicle with all the bells and whistles, another may want a pink Rolls-Royce with all the trimmings and others may want a completely hollowed out Porsche 911 race car.
But when you're 10 years old your mind is in another place. Not only do you dream, you dream big. In addition to that it's not too often that folks know exactly what they want at a young age and work for it over the course of three decades.
However, this guy did.
In a stunning piece of cinematography, Depth of Speed filmed an owner and his Mercedes-Benz 300SL "Gullwing." He proudly states how he is one of the few people that drives his car to conventions and drives it hard. Looking at the rest of the vintage cars that are hauled to and from the event, are unloaded off their flatbeds with gloved helping hands he remarks it is sad.
I couldn't agree more.
Probably one of the coolest part of this short is when he says that he built a model of the Gullwing when he was around 10 years old. After some time passed, he got to upgrade the real-life thing.
That said, we're a little curious: What's the ONE car YOU wanted as a little kid and aspire to own someday?
This 300SL Gullwing is the culmination of a thirty year dream. This car doesn’t represent one piece in a collection, it is the entire collection. This is a dream that has come to fruition after 30 years of hard work and getting oneself into a position to own the car that has been yearned for for thirty years. For myself, the idea of dreaming for one car and working hard for years and years is truly inspirational. It helps me keep the dream alive for the cars that I desire to own in the years to come.
