Evidently many folk either don't remember or were never exposed to the hidden costs of the head up display. The windshield has a special silvered coating for it to work. Only the manufacturers have the volume to make the special windshields and take advantage of the situation. The insurance companies are aware of the deal. Those with this option will find either large deductibles or high insurance costs. For those in northern climates who expect to replace gravel cracked windshields every other year, a big surprise awaits. The cost of maintaining a heads up display may prove to cost $500 / year.
