BMW has released a series of images showing its inbound iX1 undergoing winter testing in the “final phase” of its development process. The fully electric SUV has concluded dynamics testing at BMW Group’s evaluation facility in Arjeplog, Sweden, close to the Arctic Circle.

BMW said it used the conditions to test the extra burden cold temperatures will place on the electric motors and the battery pack. The German manufacturer claims that its latest electric drive set-up “uses the latest battery cell technology and intelligently controlled heat management to enable short charging times and a long range, even in extreme sub-zero temperatures.”
