Auto Spies World Exclusive: Rumor: New Maybach in development?

Mercedes Benz is said to be completing final work on a long-wheel-base E-class, most likely shipped only in Elegance form with weedy 2-litre supercharged engines (about 180bhp) coupled to their new G7 gearbox. Extended by 60-odd cm between front and rear doors, it is still a little unclear whether this is a cut-price Maybach or just a stretched limousine for the hotel runs until the cars options list is released. Glass partitions, front/rear sunroofs, entertainment centres and full leather trim suggest it could be a junior Maybach - but as ever the marketing men are unable to decide where to place the car in the range, so as to avoid denting Maybach sales, but as they are $430K US, this E-Class would need a lot of extra's to challenge it. No delivery dates are known at this time.
