Public response to the Nissan FUGA concept

Or as we affectionately call it, the 2005 Infiniti M45

THE VERDICT IS IN FROM AUTO SPIES READERS, ON THE NISSAN FUGA CONCEPT.

Wow I recently came across your website and realized you are on top of all the info before any magazine I read!!!  I subscribe to all the big magazines.  Road & Track, Car & Driver, Automobile, Motor Trend and Autoweek.  That's a lot of reading but in the short time I have been reading your webpage I am hooked!  Wow, that redesign of the M45 is killer!!   Almost looks like the profile of the Volvo S60-S80 But much better.  If they would only build it and give it the engine the market craves and I will no longer consider the E500 or the 545i.  Keep up the good work and keep the info rolling!!!  Oh by the way had Honda just completely copied the 360 Modena???  Flattery is such a compliment.  Oh well looks like I have a lot of work to do save up the money needed for all these great cars!!!

Thanks Guys!!

WOW guys, I don't know how you do it, but those photos are f_____g amazing. Beautiful car.  I own an FX45, which I think is nice, but this new "M" is amazing.  Give me one now, with a 6-speed tranny and a clutch!!

Great looking car, BUT, backseat console is a TERRIBLE idea due to killing "spread out room".  Seats need to be wider than in current G35 and M45.  I don't see how they can build a car as wide as these bodies and end up with seats that are too narrow.  The new M45 will need to beat the new RL expected next fall, and that may be tough.  Current TL is a winner with better looking interior than Infiniti products.  Also, the bulge from the dash in the M and Q cars is way too much.  Dash is almost literally "in your face".  Move it back some, PLEASE.

Currently in our house hold we own a 2002 BMW 525i auto with premium package and DSP premium sound system. When we went to look at the 2004 model since our lease will be up in about a year or so. We were truly excited to go see the new 5. to our BIGGEST disappointment we thought the new 5 looked good or OK on the outside. When we opened the door of the new 5 and sat in the car our high expectations for the new interior when all the way down. The 97-03 E39 5 series has a much better execution and a much friendlier interface with the MID then the hard to adjust Version 2.0 iDrive (and this was supposed to be an inprovment above the E65/66 7 series models iDrive???). The dash looks way to plain and not as classy comparied to the E39 5 series. This is a BIG NO NO for a 50K moderatly equiped luxury sedan. The interior has way to much plastic and doesn't give you the feeling of what you paid is worth for what you get comparied to the lower priced E39 model. Now having seen for the first time on autospies.com, the pictures for the new M35/M45 model made my jaw drop to the floor. The exterior is brilliant, smooth and beautiful. The interior has a real luxury ambiance, sort of in the way like a 2/3's MayBach. Love the front end design as well as the clean rear end, almost makes the new 2004 5 series look outdated comparied to the looks of this new concept for the New Infiniti M45 model. If Infiniti comes out with this new model in 2005 with both the option of a V6 or V8 and prices it about 5 grand less then the new 5 or the current Mercedes-benz E-Class, then you can sign us up for one in a heart beat. congratulations Nissan/Infiniti for all you great new products and listening to your customers. And a even bigger thank you to autospies for your great and EXCELLENT coverage of up and new coming models and acurate information. Autospies is truly the best website for new car information.

Great article, and great call. I test drove the M-45, and loved it, except for the look. I could not get past it. The car, other than its looks, was priced very well, drove exceedingly well, and the interior and electronics were first class. If Nissan brings this to America, sign me up.

This new M45 looks perfect...just what it should be.  I was hoping they would
take the great looking front grill of the G35 Coupe and apply it to a sedan
and apparently, they have.  If they can take the Q45 even farther than this,
then these guys are going to own the sport sedan category across all sizes.
What an impressive company Nissan has become.  BMW better enjoy its 5 series
sales while they last.  The new 5 will be acceptable in appearance until this car
comes out, then sales will plummet.

PS - the new NSX looks great from the front.  I can't see the back to well,
but it looks a bit odd in the picture were the green house meets the back deck.

PSS - By the way, you guys are a car enthusiast's dream come true.  You
address all the angles we are really interested in knowing about and we get to
learn it a year ahead of time.  Keep up the great work!

Well I rarely agree with your design opinions, but I gotta say it's right on about this car, it looks awesome. I love the interior, it has a very unique look, yet is very tastefully done. The exterior looks sharp from just about every angle. The only thing I'm not crazy about it the taillights, I don't see any reason why they should match the exact shape of the headlights. Why can't BMW get a decent designer to put together a car that looks like that? They wouldn't be able to produce enough of them.

Dear 001,

Love it, love it, love it!  I have always had a certain preference to German cars, mainly the BMW 5’s but looking at this, any type of confirmation that the new M45 will be close to this will cause me to cancel my order for my 545!  Oh, and regarding the front and rear interface controllers, didn’t BMW do it first with the 760Li?

Stunning design! I hope the performance lives up to its looks. Much better looking than any MB or BMW except for the CLS.

If they build it I just may become a convert from BMW to Infiniti!  I can't wait to see the performance numbers.

I think that this design is a total knock out! Looks great in anyway you look at it. Good job! Now what about the horse power? hmmm...

I really do like the new look. I still like the E-class more, but I have had Mercedes around me almost since birth so my opinion is a little predetermined when compared with all BMW and Mercedes-Benz products. I do admit though that this Nissan look like a million bucks!

P.S. The new 5-Series looks UGLY. My once beloved 5-Series now has left its beauty.

I am an avid car enthusiast. I have never seen anything so appealing. I can even choose this any day over the Maybach, the Bentley, Aston Martin even the Rolls Royce.

Infinity please produce it as is with no alteration except for the Nissan Badge. It is going to hit the ground running and start expecting people putting their order in before you ever think of producing it.

I love you folks at Infiniti!

Donald
