The Ford Lightning, a highly anticipated electric pickup truck from Ford, has failed to sell as well as expected since its release. While the Lightning has received generally positive reviews from critics, its lackluster sales performance can be attributed to several factors.

Firstly, the Lightning is priced higher than many of its gas-powered competitors, which could deter cost-conscious buyers. The base model starts at around $40,000, significantly more expensive than some of Ford's more affordable gas-powered pickups. Additionally, many potential buyers may be wary of the unfamiliarity of electric vehicles and may prefer to stick with the traditional gas-powered pickups they are used to.

Another issue may be the availability of charging infrastructure. While electric vehicle charging stations are becoming more common, they are still less ubiquitous than gas stations, which could make potential buyers hesitant to invest in an electric pickup.

The Ford Lightning is a highly capable electric pickup truck, its lack of affordability, unfamiliarity, and competition from other electric pickups may be contributing to its underwhelming sales performance.

That is why the 200k order number was never real and so many orders are being cancelled and ar now available on the lot.
