Volkswagen has turned to Magna Steyr, an Austrian automotive manufacturer and engineering company, for help developing rugged vehicles for its revived American brand, Scout. Local newspaper, Kleine Zeitung, reports that the deal is worth €450 million (US$492 million at current exchange rates).

The German car group announced that it would be bringing back the Scout brand in 2022 and later confirmed the construction of a $2 billion factory in South Carolina for electric vehicle production. While details have been limited, the company has confirmed the development of an SUV and pickup truck.
