A 21-year-old Canadian woman recently recounted a harrowing experience on TikTok, detailing how her family's 2014 Kia Sorento abruptly stalled while they were traveling at high speed on a highway. The incident occurred when the vehicle was moving at approximately 68 mph, a velocity that could have led to a fatal accident, according to most insurance companies.

"About a month ago, the motor of our Kia just stopped working while we were driving, causing the car to slow down to a complete stop," she said in a TikTok video that has since garnered over 1.6 million views as of Sunday.

"We managed to exit the vehicle safely, but it was an incredibly dangerous situation. We could have been seriously injured or worse," she added.

The family's frustration escalated when they visited a Kia dealership to address the issue. They were taken aback by the salesperson's response, which they found shockingly insensitive.

According to the woman, the salesperson admitted, "To be honest with you, we know we're in the wrong, but Kia just couldn't afford to recall all the cars and replace all the engines because it would be too expensive."

The woman expressed her disbelief and anger over the situation. "We could have died. We genuinely could have died. We could have been rear-ended," she said.

She has since called on Kia to provide an explanation for why no action has been taken to address this potentially life-threatening issue.
