Mercedes-Benz has drawn the ire of the electric vehicle (EV) fire victims in South Korea for providing an “absurdly insufficient” donation to the residents of the complex affected by the blaze.

Recently, an electric Mercedes-Benz caught on fire in an underground parking lot of an apartment complex in Incheon. The blaze dealt severe damage to over 100 vehicles in the parking garage. A local media report also noted that a few residents sustained minor injuries from the fire.

The fire caused by the Mercedez-Benz EV took several hours to put out, causing extensive damage and concerns. The South Korean Environment Ministry called an emergency meeting to discuss EV fire safety. The South Korean government is thinking of requiring automakers to disclose their EV battery brands. So far, Hyundai and Kia have released a list of EV battery brands they use to the public.
