James May is probably the only Top Gear and The Grand Tour co-host to buy and enjoy electric vehicles (EVs). A while back, he acquired a BMW i3 REx (named as such because it had a 0.65-liter two-cylinder engine serving as a generator) and a Tesla Model S. Most recently, he replaced the hefty sedan with a more modest Model 3. Now, he finally got his hands on the divisive Cybertruck, and, surprise-surprise, he actually finds it inspiring!
Known for being a well-informed and passionate gearhead with respect for the environment and a knack for business, James May is probably one of the best people to listen to when it comes to rating cars honestly. He has rarely fallen into the trap of favoritism and has changed his mind when presented with cold, hard facts.
