Audi Sport believes their special edition, a 621-horsepower tribute to an IMSA racing legend, will become "instantly collectible," but if that happens, it's because of the price rather than its exclusivity.

If you look at BMW M's offer in the United States, you'll notice there are no less than 12 models on display, from the compact M2 to the humongous (or is it horrendous) X6 M sports activity vehicle. Meanwhile, Audi Sport has just eight options – some of which, like the RS 5 Coupe, will soon disappear from the catalog.

They're a bit underweight, right? No worries, the Audi Sport division is trying to mitigate the impending arrival of the BMW M5 Touring with something that's way lighter, all puns intended. Though not on the wallet, mind you. Anyway, back in February, the Ingolstadt-based company announced the Audi RS 6 Avant GT special edition as the pinnacle of its station wagons.
