Mazda North American Operations has confirmed that 2025 model year MX-5 Miata vehicles are being held at US ports due to an undisclosed issue related to the vehicle control module. Deliveries in the United States market have been postponed to summer 2025.

The Drive reports that many roadsters and retractable fastbacks will remain in holding lots until then, awaiting the fix before they get shipped off to dealers nationwide. On the other hand, the cited publication understands that not all 2025 models are affected by said concern.

Considering that certain 35th Anniversary editions have already been delivered, the problem is likely dependent on a combination of trim levels and options. While it may be frustrating to wait months on end for delivery, customers have to understand that fixing an issue before it hits the customer speaks volumes about quality control and how the automaker views the customer.
