The reasoning behind the California Air Resources Board’s Advanced Clean Cars II regulations are difficult to dispute: The climate is clearly changing, transportation emissions are contributing to those undesirable changes and the industry has a responsibility to respond.
In an ideal world — one where we all equally cared for the health of our planet, and where political subdivisions and politics didn’t matter — any argument over their logic and methods would largely be done and we’d all be participating in a comprehensive global effort to turn things around.
Unfortunately, none of us live in that ideal world; I wish we did. Instead, we all live in a world where political subdivisions and political wins and losses mean everything, and anything else is secondary.
