The Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly 274,000 of its popular full-size SUVs, the 2022-2024 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator, due to a potentially serious brake system defect. The issue could lead to a loss of front brake function, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
The problem, identified by Ford and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), stems from the front brake lines potentially making contact with the engine air cleaner outlet pipe. This contact can cause the brake lines to become damaged over time, possibly resulting in a brake fluid leak. A loss of brake fluid would diminish the effectiveness of the front brakes, which are critical for safe stopping.
