Ford celebrates 75 years of supplying cars to law enforcement. It all started with the Ford Custom back in 1950. Now, the man who supervised the development of the police Mustang GT brought the car to Jay Leno's garage to disclose never-before-told secrets. Well, some of them. Very few, actually.
The car showing off its muscular silhouette in front of the camera is not an actual police car but one made to look like one. It is a one-off S550 Ford Mustang that the automaker unveiled at the SEMA show back in 2021 to brag about what the company is doing for law enforcement. It was Ford's manner of celebrating 40 years of uninterrupted service.
Well, they have every right in the world to brag. With the police force now having several options to choose from, Ford needs to be ahead of everyone else if it wants to celebrate another milestone. That is what competition does, after all. It makes all those involved better.
