The Ford Motor Company's mid-size pickup truck has been hit with a safety recall stateside. According to Ford, the subject Ranger vehicles have been produced with Yanfeng-supplied instrument panel topper components that may alter the intended passenger airbag cushion opening and inflation characteristics
 
In other words, the airbag in question may not deploy as intended by the safety boffins at Ford. The supplier manufactured the subject instrument panel topper assemblies with an incorrect laser scoring process on the underside of said toppers, therefore compromising the airbag's opening and inflation characteristics.
