Nearly three decades after Toyota created the template for the modern small SUV, the RAV4 enters its sixth generation with more power, more efficiency, and a sharper focus on electrification. Arriving in U.S. dealerships this winter, the 2026 RAV4 lineup brings a bold new look, advanced hybrid technology, and a first-ever GR SPORT performance model, all built upon Toyota's Next Generation Architecture-K (TNGA-K) platform.

For 2026, the RAV4 becomes a 100% electrified model line, offering customers a choice between a fifth-generation hybrid (HEV) system or an all-new sixth-generation plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. Gasoline-only models are officially gone.

The RAV4 Hybrid uses a 2.5-liter inline-four (A25A-FXS) paired with Toyota's latest hybrid transaxle, combining engine output and two electric motor-generators (MG1 and MG2) through a planetary-type continuously variable transmission.
