Toyota and Lexus are recalling nearly 600,000 vehicles made in the last few years for a big issue with their instrument clusters. A problem with the software in the dash can mean that the display doesn't give drivers critical info like vehicle speed as well as other warnings.

Some owners will get a software update to fix the problem. Owners of plug-in hybrid models, though, could need an entire new cluster. But Toyota doesn't yet have a fix for either group.
