Elon Musk backs down again from a promised launch day for the next-generation Roadster. In November 2025, he announced that the Roadster 2.0 would be unveiled on April 1. In a new tweet, Musk says the new Roadster will "hopefully" be unveiled next month. Tesla recently trademarked the Roadster's wordmark and logo, a rare sign that the project hasn't been buried.
   
If you thought the Cybertruck had an unusually long development timeline, the Roadster 2.0 can make you change your mind. The successor to the first Tesla EV was unveiled in 2017 alongside the Semi. Although the Semi is yet to start volume production, prototypes have been tested for years. No such thing can be said about the Roadster, despite repeated promises from Elon Musk and other Tesla executives.
