As we predicted in our Detroit Auto show issue, the LF-S concept that everyone was expecting to be the next GS, is really the next IS330.
Our Lexus sources also told us, that Lexus is planning make more changes across all their products much sooner than their previous plans used to dictate.
The good news? All products will be redesigned by 2007-08 model year.
The bad news? The next 12 months will be pretty quiet as far as introductions are concerned.
Other highlights of the new Lexus product strategies moving forward:
1. Look for AWD to be an available feature on almost every product they make.
2. A model that will slate ABOVE the LS430 (S55/S600/760li competitor?)
3. A performance division ala AMG, that will build performance versions of all their vehicles where appropriate, is in the process of formation as we speak.
4. A REAL 3-series competitor in the IS.
5. Sedan, coupe, convertible and all-wheel drive IS’s will be available.
6. THANK GOD!!!! Future Lexus models won’t be variants of Japanese models!
7. When the next LS hits the market, it will once again trump the S-class substantially in price/luxury/performance.
8. If it’s possible, they’re working on taking the dealership experience to the next level again!
9. A Mercedes GST competitor.
10. A separate Infiniti FX competitor
