Tesla launched the longer-wheelbase Model Y in China last September under the Model Y L name. Despite repeated calls for bringing the seven-seater SUV to the US, Tesla has been reluctant. However, things should change soon, possibly this very weekend, if a recent teaser means what most people think it means.
The Model Y L was one of those cars that nobody knew was coming, and certainly nobody knew was needed. When it launched in China last September, the longer-wheelbase variant of the popular crossover took the market by storm. To be fair, it was designed with the Chinese market in mind, considering how much Chinese customers love to have ample space in the rear.
