This is what passes for “justice” in the clown state of California. In January 2023, radiologist Dharmesh Patel allegedly snapped and tried to murder his entire family by deliberately steering his Tesla Model Y off a 250-foot cliff at Devil’s Slide. His wife and two little kids — ages 7 and 4 — were trapped inside as the car plunged.
It was a miracle the Tesla’s engineering saved them from certain death. Patel faced three counts of attempted murder. He should have rotted in prison.Instead, on July 6, 2026, a San Mateo County judge erased everything. Charges? Dismissed. Record? Wiped clean. Patel strutted out of court like nothing happened after completing a pathetic two-year “mental health diversion” program. Therapy sessions and house arrest with his parents. That’s it. No real punishment for allegedly plotting to slaughter his own blood. DA Steve Wagstaffe basically threw up his hands: the judge had “no discretion.”
California law forced the dismissal. Wagstaffe and other DAs screamed at the legislature to ban attempted murder from these feel-good diversion loopholes — just like murder, rape, and child molestation.
The spineless politicians, twice including this summer, said “no thanks.” So here we are: a man who prosecutors say intentionally tried to wipe out his family gets his life handed back on a silver platter while victims get nothing. This is pure insanity. California’s progressive “reforms” treat cold-blooded attempted killers as delicate patients who just need hugs and Stanford therapists instead of steel bars. Mental health? Fine — after real consequences. Not instead of them. A licensed doctor who allegedly chose a cliff over his kids now has a spotless record and walks free. His wife and traumatized children? They get to live with the nightmare while daddy gets a clean slate. This isn’t compassion. It’s a sick joke that spits in the face of every victim in this failing state. California’s legislature and soft-on-crime machine have declared open season: try to murder your family, claim “issues,” check the diversion box, and boom — accountability vanishes. Public safety? A joke.
Justice? Dead.Wake up, California. Your deranged policies are protecting monsters and abandoning families. This verdict isn’t mercy — it’s moral collapse. Enough is enough.
