One of the most affordable crossovers available for the 2026 model year in the United States of America, the Kicks has cleared a plethora of safety evaluations by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. While its main protections yielded maximum scores across several categories, a more granular look at the data reveals certain vulnerabilities, beginning with rear occupant protection.
         
In structural test categories, the Kicks received "good" ratings in the small overlap front evaluation and the updated side impact test. The most critical setback for the subcompact crossover occurred in the updated moderate overlap front crash test, in which the rear-seated occupant experienced potential injuries.
