For forward planning purposes, manufacturers love political stability and there's not a lot of that going around at the moment. Ford is trying to make plans for the future of its F-Series Super Duty trucks, with investments on both sides of the Canadian border, while still not knowing what the tariff penalty will be for its Canadian operations.
It's pouring another $1 billion into its Kentucky truck plant, introducing a new paint shop to improve its long-term competitiveness. And that may help to keep the F-Series at least partially out of Trump's tariff trap, even as a threatened 50% penalty appears for 2027.
