Porsche's entry sports car line returns in 2027 with a plug and no internal combustion option. Production of the 718 Cayman Electric and 718 Boxster Electric starts next year, and the gasoline variants once plotted for the top of the range are gone. Looking at the bigger picture, going zero emissions only is a very bold choice.
The hole these cars fill opened in 2025, when the final six- and four-pot 718s rolled off the assembly line. Since then, Porsche has had no sub-911 sports car at all. A particularly strange absence for a company whose story kicks off with the 356, don't you think?
